Russian Drone Strikes Hit Kyiv Academy and Medical Center
Russian drone strikes targeted Kyiv and several other Ukrainian cities, killing multiple people and damaging critical infrastructure and residential buildings.
The Federal Government of Russia launched a broad drone assault across Ukraine on September 28, targeting multiple cities including Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv. In Kyiv, strikes hit the National Academy of Sciences in the Shevchenkivskyi District and a Dobrobut Academy medical center near the Olimpiiska metro station. The attack on the academy killed one woman and wounded four people, including former national security and defence council secretary Volodymyr Gorbulin, while the medical center caught fire.
The assault extended beyond the capital, causing fatalities and injuries in Dnipro and Kharkiv. In Dnipro, a strike on a business center killed four people and wounded at least 19, while strikes in Zaporizhzhia wounded 30 civilians. Infrastructure and residential buildings were also damaged in Zhytomyr, Sumy, Rivne, and Odesa.
Responding to the strikes and broader Russian hybrid warfare across Europe, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Alexus Grynkewich stated that Moscow's efforts to intimidate allies and fracture support for Ukraine are failing.
