Taiwan Tightens AI Chip Exports to Align With US

Taiwan is adding AI servers and semiconductors to its controlled export list to prevent smuggling to China and align with United States trade restrictions.

The Government of the Republic of China is tightening export controls on artificial intelligence chips and servers to align with United States trade restrictions. This policy shift follows a crackdown by the Trump administration on the smuggling of semiconductors into China.

Minister of Economic Affairs Kung Ming-hsin announced that cutting-edge semiconductors and AI servers will be added to the official list of controlled items. Under the new measures, shipping restricted AI hardware to China will be classified as a criminal offense under the Foreign Trade Act.

The move signals a closer alignment between Taiwan and the United States in restricting China's access to high-end computing technology.
