Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann transferred monthly financial assistance to 35.5 lakh women during a distribution function in Pathankot on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The rollout, part of the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, utilized Direct Benefit Transfer to provide beneficiaries with three months of installments totaling 3,000 to 4,500 rupees. Additional payments of 1,000 or 1,500 rupees were provided to those already receiving widow, disability, or old-age pensions.
This phase of the program brings the total number of beneficiaries to 68.5 lakh. Total registrations have climbed to 73.5 lakh, following 5 lakh new sign-ups in the seven days prior to the event. The scheme provides a monthly allowance of 1,000 rupees for eligible women in the general category and 1,500 rupees for those in the Scheduled Caste category.
Originally announced on March 8, 2026, as part of the Punjab Budget 2026-27, the Government of Punjab allocated 9,300 crore rupees to the initiative. The state government expects that approximately 97% of women in Punjab will eventually benefit from the program, with a total target reach of around 90 lakh women.
