Georgia Counties Face Polling Changes and Fraudulent Texts
Gwinnett County relocated eight polling precincts while Fulton County officials warned voters against fraudulent text messages and announced the need to rescan 1,000 ballots.
Election operations in Georgia faced disruptions across two major counties during the November 3, 2026, midterm elections. In Gwinnett County, officials relocated eight polling precincts throughout the year. The final change, approved October 28, moved approximately 3,700 voters in precinct 059 from Landmark Church to Unity Atlanta Church after the former property changed ownership.
Simultaneously, Fulton County officials dealt with fraudulent text messages sent to voters on Election Day claiming polling locations had changed. County authorities confirmed they did not send the messages and urged residents to use official state portals to verify their locations. The incident caused confusion in a region where results could influence Georgia's Senate races.
Further complications in Fulton County involved an equipment failure caused by a disconnected power cable in October. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that approximately 1,000 early voting ballots must be rescanned as a result of the malfunction.
