AI Industry Needs $6 Trillion Revenue by 2031

Bain & Company, Inc. reports that the global artificial intelligence industry must generate $6 trillion in annual revenue by 2031 to justify current capital expenditures for data center construction. The consulting firm released these findings in its annual global technology report on Tuesday.

Existing consumer and enterprise AI services are estimated to contribute up to $1.8 trillion toward this target. This leaves a $4.2 trillion revenue gap that the industry must fill through emerging sectors.

Bain & Company identifies robotics, autonomous machines, energy generation, mental health, and drug discovery as the primary sectors required to close the financial gap and validate the scale of current infrastructure investments.
