Sanofi Raises 2026 Sales Forecast Amid M&A Review
Sanofi increased its 2026 sales growth forecast to a low-teens percentage and is considering larger acquisitions to bolster its drug pipeline.
French pharmaceutical company Sanofi raised its 2026 sales growth forecast to a low-teens percentage, up from a previous estimate of 10%. The company attributed the increase to strong demand for Dupixent, its asthma medication. Sanofi also updated its business operating income per share expectations to a mid-teens percentage after reporting third-quarter business operating income of €5.43 billion, which surpassed market expectations of €4.32 billion.
Under the leadership of CEO Belen Garijo, who took office in May, the company is conducting a strategic review. CFO François Roger stated that Sanofi is considering mergers and acquisitions that exceed its historical range of €2 billion to €5 billion. The company is specifically targeting commercial assets or those in phase three of development within the fields of vaccines, rare diseases, and immunology.
Analysts estimate Sanofi has approximately €20 billion in capital available for deal-making to strengthen its pipeline before 2027. Roger noted the company's interest in late-stage assets and the potential to pursue moonshots to address unmet medical needs.
