Lindt & Sprüngli Removes CEO Adalbert Lechner Over Weak Performance
Lindt & Sprüngli removed CEO Adalbert Lechner and appointed former chief Dieter Weisskopf as interim leader following declining European sales and falling share prices.
Lindt & Sprüngli announced the departure of Chief Executive Adalbert Lechner following a period of weak performance, specifically within European markets. The company's Board of Directors stated that new operational leadership is required to return to consistent growth and capture global market opportunities.
Former CEO Dieter Weisskopf assumed the role of interim chief with immediate effect. The company expects to name a permanent successor in the second quarter of 2027.
This leadership change follows a second reduction in the 2026 sales forecast last month, which the company attributed to declining consumption in Europe and rising cocoa costs. Lindt shares have lost 25% of their value so far this year.
