Robertson and McLaughlin Compete for Alabama Attorney General
Republican Katherine Robertson and Democrat Jeff McLaughlin are vying for the Alabama Attorney General seat in the general election on November 3, 2026.
Katherine Robertson and Jeff McLaughlin are competing for the position of Alabama Attorney General in the general election scheduled for November 3, 2026. The seat became open after current Attorney General Steve Marshall reached his term limit. Marshall previously attempted to run for the U.S. Senate but failed to reach the primary runoff in May.
Robertson, a Republican who has served as Chief Counsel to Steve Marshall since 2017, secured her party's nomination by defeating Pamela Casey and Jay Mitchell. McLaughlin, a Democrat and former member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 2001 to 2011, ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.
Polls for the midterm election will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. central time.
