Apple Develops Option to Replace Siri With Third-Party AI

Code discovered in the iOS 26.2 beta 3 reveals that Apple is developing a feature to allow users to replace Siri with a third-party voice assistant, such as Google Gemini or ChatGPT. The new Settings app section would enable users to select a default assistant and activate it using the iPhone side button.

While the move may be intended to comply with European Union regulations, developer documentation indicates an initial launch limited to iPhones in Japan later this year.
