Texas Voter Suspense List Grows to 1.8 Million

The Texas Secretary of State reported that nearly 1.8 million voters are now on the state's suspense list ahead of the November 3 midterm election.

The Texas Secretary of State released data on October 16, 2026, revealing that the state's voter suspense list has expanded to nearly 1.8 million people. This figure represents an increase of approximately 530,000 voters since March, meaning more than 9% of the 19 million registered voters in the state are currently listed as suspended.

Individuals are placed on the suspense list when a county is unable to verify their address, a situation frequently caused by undeliverable mail. Although the October 5 deadline to be removed from the list for the upcoming midterm election has passed, suspended voters remain eligible to cast ballots through specific procedures.

Voters who moved within the same county are required to complete a statement of residence. Those who moved to a different county can utilize limited ballots during the early voting period from October 19 to October 30. Alternatively, these voters may submit a provisional ballot on Election Day, November 3, provided they present a valid ID to the county registrar within six days of the election.
