Riyadh Air Orders 34 Boeing and Airbus Aircraft

At the Farnborough Airshow on July 20, 2026, Riyadh Air announced the acquisition of 34 widebody aircraft from Boeing and Airbus to support the national carrier's rapid expansion. The airline exercised options for 28 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, including the conversion of 20 jets to the larger 787-10 variant, raising its total firm order for Dreamliners to 67. Additionally, the carrier confirmed the purchase of six Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, bringing its total orders for that model to 31.

These acquisitions align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 economic diversification strategy, aiming to serve more than 100 international destinations. As a company wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund, the airline expects its growth to generate over 200,000 jobs and contribute more than $20 billion to non-oil GDP growth by 2030.

CEO Tony Douglas stated that the 787-10 will enhance the airline's capacity to meet growing passenger and cargo demand. Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, noted that the new aircraft would complement the fleet and advance the mission to deliver an exceptional passenger experience.
