Delhi High Court Rejects AISA President's Peace Bond Challenge

The Delhi High Court dismissed a petition by AISA president Neha Bora challenging a government notice requiring a personal bond to maintain peace.

The Delhi High Court dismissed a petition filed by Neha Bora, president of the All India Students Association (AISA), who challenged a government notice requiring her to furnish a ₹10,000 personal bond and surety to maintain peace. The notice was issued by a Special Executive Magistrate under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita following Bora's participation in the Cockroach Janata Party's 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march on October 16, where she was briefly detained.

During the proceedings, Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma argued that preventive action was necessary because Bora had participated in sloganeering and called for "regime change" at a gathering. Bora's counsel countered that advocating for a change in government is a legitimate democratic action.

Justice Subramonium Prasad rejected the writ petition but ordered the Special Executive Magistrate to provide Bora with all relevant government materials and documents used to support the proceedings.
