Singapore Airlines is investing over S$2 billion to overhaul long-haul aircraft cabins with new seats and Starlink connectivity starting in 2027.
Singapore Airlines is investing more than S$2 billion to upgrade its long-haul aircraft cabins, with a rollout beginning in the second half of 2027. The overhaul includes new seats across all four cabin classes for the Boeing 777-9 fleet and retrofits for Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range aircraft.
New features include First Class suites that transform into the largest double beds in commercial aviation and Business Class seats with sliding privacy doors developed with assistance from BMW AG. The airline is also integrating 4K entertainment screens, high-speed Starlink connectivity, and refreshed dining and lounge facilities.
Chief Commercial Officer Lee Lik Hsin stated that the designs were based on research from over 5,000 frequent travelers and industry experts. The updates specifically address passenger demands for increased privacy and the ability for travelers to stay together during flights.
