Gold Prices in Pakistan Surge After Mid-August Decline

Gold and silver prices in Pakistan experienced significant volatility between August 19 and August 21, 2026, closely tracking fluctuations in the international bullion market.
On August 19, the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association reported a domestic price drop. The price of 24-karat gold fell by Rs3,700 per tola to Rs458,236, mirroring a global decrease of $37 per ounce. Silver prices also declined by Rs186 per tola to Rs6,800. Local selling prices during this period varied by city, ranging from Rs453,000 in Karachi to Rs468,500 in Peshawar.
By August 21, the trend reversed as international gold prices soared by $52 per ounce to $4,547. This global surge pushed the domestic price of 24-karat gold up by Rs5,200 per tola, reaching Rs477,136. The price for 10 grams of gold rose to Rs409,067, while silver gained Rs210 per tola to settle at Rs7,379.
While precious metals saw sharp movements, the Pakistan Stock Exchange remained stable on August 21, with the benchmark index closing at 176,621.25 points, representing a marginal increase of 0.02%.
