Lexus Reveals 2026 NX SUV with Enhanced Hybrid Power

Lexus unveiled a mid-cycle refresh of the NX crossover in Japan, featuring a redesigned exterior and a plug-in hybrid with increased battery capacity.

Lexus revealed a mid-lifecycle update for its second-generation NX SUV for the 2026 model year on September 1 in Japan. The refresh aligns the crossover's design with the RX and ES models, introducing a frameless spindle-shaped front grille, slimmer LED daytime running lights, and revised L-shaped LED tail-lamps.

Interior updates include a redesigned dashboard with hidden touch-sensitive switches and a 12.3-inch digital driver's display. All trims now feature a 14-inch central touchscreen and a steering wheel derived from the ES sedan featuring a full brand wordmark.

Powertrain enhancements focus on efficiency and power. The 450h+ plug-in hybrid now produces 307hp and utilizes a 23kWh battery, representing a 30 percent increase in capacity. This version adds DC fast charging and extends the electric-only range to over 100km. The 350h strong hybrid produces 199hp and incorporates a lighter battery to improve acceleration.

The vehicle is available in Business, Executive, Luxury, and F Sport trims. While the previous model is currently sold in India, the company has not yet announced a launch timeline for the 2026 version in that market.
