Early Voting Opens in North Carolina and Kincardine

Voters in Cumberland County, North Carolina, and Kincardine, Canada, have begun casting ballots for general, municipal, and school board elections.

Early voting processes have commenced in two distinct regions for the 2026 election cycle. In Cumberland County, North Carolina, voters began casting ballots on October 15 at seven designated sites, including the East Regional Library. This period continues through October 31, ahead of the November 3 Election Day. Eligible residents who missed the October 9 registration deadline may still register and vote during this window by providing proof of residence.

North Carolina voters are deciding on public office races and three constitutional amendments. These proposals include reducing the maximum state income tax rate from 7% to 3.5%, expanding photo ID requirements to all voting methods, and establishing limits on local property tax levy increases. Mail-in absentee ballot requests are accepted until October 20.

Separately, the municipality of Kincardine, Canada, opened voting for its municipal and school board elections at 10 a.m. on October 19. Electors in Kincardine can cast their ballots via the internet or telephone until 8 p.m. on October 26. Residents not listed on the voters' list must visit the municipal administration centre with valid identification to apply for eligibility.
