BRD Groupe Société Générale, the fifth largest bank in Romania by assets, reported a net profit of RON 784 million for the first half of 2026. This represents a 2.5% increase compared to the RON 764 million earned during the same period in 2025.
Net banking income rose 1.8% year-on-year to RON 2.206 billion, supported primarily by a 1.4% increase in net interest income. The bank's gross operating profit grew 4.2% to RON 1,112 million, despite persistent double-digit inflation and a doubling of the turnover tax to RON 139 million.
Growth was driven largely by corporate lending, which helped increase net outstanding loans by 11.6% to RON 58.3 billion.
