AI² Robotics Plans Hong Kong IPO Amid Chinese AI Surge

AI² Robotics is considering a Hong Kong initial public offering following a funding round that valued the Shenzhen-based firm at over 20 billion yuan.

AI² Robotics, a Shenzhen-based maker of general-purpose robots and the AlphaBrain AI foundation model, is considering an initial public offering in Hong Kong as early as 2025. The company recently raised nearly 5 billion yuan, a move that values the firm at more than 20 billion yuan.

This potential listing follows a broader trend of Chinese robotics firms seeking public capital, including Unitree Robotics, which is planning a 4.2 billion yuan IPO in Shanghai. This financial activity occurs alongside a surge of high-performance AI releases from Chinese developers such as Alibaba, Moonshot AI, and DeepSeek.

These firms are narrowing the capability gap with United States competitors and initiating aggressive price wars in the global AI market. Recent releases include Alibaba's Qwen3.8-Max model and Moonshot AI's Kimi K3, the latter of which has triggered threats of intellectual property sanctions from the United States. Additionally, DeepSeek's V4 Flash has disrupted the market with low-cost, high-end capabilities, while ByteDance has developed the Seedance video generation tool.
