European Commission Leads Ukraine Support Talks in Brussels
The European Commission is coordinating with the United States and international partners to provide winter assistance to Ukraine and support a US-led peace process.
The European Commission is leading diplomatic discussions in Brussels with the United States, France, Germany, Britain, NATO, and the World Bank to coordinate the next round of support for Ukraine. These talks focus on providing critical winter assistance to Kyiv and aligning with a US-led peace process before scheduled negotiations in Abu Dhabi. US special envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that American negotiators will meet their European partners for these discussions.
The diplomatic push follows a series of heavy attacks on Ukrainian power stations in Kyiv and Zhytomyr, as well as a strike on a cargo vessel near Odesa.
Parallel to the security talks, European leaders are reacting to US midterm election results. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez characterized the outcome as a "progressive fightback" against "hate" and "sexism," stating that American society voted against policies that only impoverish. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre described the results as a powerful political signal regarding a change of course among American voters.
