Google Deploys Android Pulse to 10 Million Devices

Google deployed a system application called Android Pulse to over 10 million Android devices to monitor system resource consumption and detect software anomalies. The app functions as a silent diagnostic tool that operates in the background to identify misbehaving software causing excessive battery drain, high CPU usage, or memory consumption.

While the application recently became visible as an update in the Google Play Store around August 21, 2026, evidence from APKMirror indicates that various builds of the software have existed since March 2026. The tool is designed to identify problematic behavior that leads to device overheating or instability, though it remains unclear if the app automatically resolves these issues or merely reports data to Google for future stability updates.

Users cannot interact with or uninstall Android Pulse, as it serves as a core system resource for rule distribution and anomaly detection. The app's primary purpose is to maintain device performance by monitoring critical spikes in processing power and memory usage.
