Jacob Zuma Votes in KwaZulu-Natal Local Elections
Jacob Zuma cast his vote in KwaZulu-Natal local elections while MK Party members campaigned amid safety concerns following a candidate's murder.
Former South African President and MK Party leader Jacob Zuma cast his vote at Ntolwane Primary School in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday during local government elections. Voting took place in Ward 14 of the Nkandla Local Municipality, an area currently administered by the Inkatha Freedom Party.
Zuma expressed confidence that the MK Party would increase its regional support and praised the voter turnout. He urged voters and political parties to maintain peace and calm throughout the election process.
While Zuma voted in Nkandla, MK Party members in Umzumbe continued their campaign efforts despite safety concerns. These fears followed the murder of proportional representation candidate Lastborn Shazi, who was shot at his home in Mathulini two days prior. Police reported that the motive for the killing remains unknown.
