Volvo AB Reports Third-Quarter Profit Rise on Truck Demand
Volvo AB increased third-quarter operating profit to 14.69 billion Swedish crowns as global truck demand recovered and AI data center growth boosted its Penta unit.
Volvo AB reported an increase in third-quarter operating profit and sales for the period ending September 30, driven by a recovery in truck demand across most global regions. Adjusted operating income rose to 14.69 billion Swedish crowns, approximately $1.48 billion, up from 11.71 billion crowns in the previous year.
Net sales grew 8% year-on-year to 119.5 billion crowns. This growth was supported by strong performance in all regions except Asia, as well as favorable currency movements resulting from a weak Swedish crown. The company's core truck business saw a 26% increase in net order intake, totaling nearly 47,000 vehicles.
Other business segments also showed growth. Construction equipment sales rose 5%, while the Penta unit experienced an increase in earnings fueled by demand for artificial intelligence data centers in North America.
