InformNapalm Claims Cyber Operation Caused Russian Su-57 Crash
InformNapalm claims a combined cyber and human intelligence operation manipulated Russian air defenses into shooting down a Su-57 fighter jet near Moscow.
A Russian Su-57 fighter jet, valued at approximately $50 million, crashed in the Moscow region on July 29, 2026. The international intelligence community InformNapalm claims the aircraft was destroyed by its own BARS Moscow air defense system following a combined human and cyber intelligence operation. According to InformNapalm, the group identified vulnerabilities in the BARS network using intercepted communications and training footage, which were then provided to the Ukrainian Defense Forces to influence the air defense unit's operation.
The Russian Ministry of Defense denied these allegations, stating the crash resulted from a technical malfunction. In a related development, the Russian civil aviation authority Rosaviatsiya restricted flight altitudes and banned transit flights over the Moscow region, citing security concerns due to increased Ukrainian drone activity.
