Analyst Warns CoreWeave Faces High Financial Risk

Financial analyst Gil Luria warned that CoreWeave faces significant risk of value destruction due to high leverage and borrowing costs.

Financial analyst Gil Luria warned that CoreWeave and other Neo Cloud providers face significant financial risk driven by high leverage and borrowing costs. Luria stated that CoreWeave could see its stock value drop to zero if it continues borrowing at high interest rates, such as 9 percent, while achieving lower returns.

CoreWeave is currently seeking insurer capital and improved credit ratings to secure cheaper funding sources after exhausting its ability to borrow at previous rates. Luria argued that borrowing at high rates to build data centers that are increasingly commoditized outside of hyperscalers may not be a sound investment.

While the AI build-out remains speculative, Luria noted that the availability of risk capital in the markets may serve as a regulatory force. He suggested this could prevent a rapid bubble by limiting lending at unsustainable rates.
