Yum! Brands closed its final Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Owensboro, Kentucky, on Friday, October 9. The location at 3212 Highway 54 had been in operation for 14 years.
Employees told the Messenger-Inquirer that the restaurant ceased operations after it no longer had products to sell. The closure marks the complete exit of the chain from the city, which previously supported multiple outlets.
Past locations included restaurants on U.S. 60 East and West Parrish Avenue. A former outlet on Frederica Street closed in 2015 and was subsequently replaced by a Chipotle Mexican Grill.
