XRP Price Drops to $1.40 After Senate Bill Failure

XRP has fallen to $1.40, erasing post-election gains following the U.S. Senate's rejection of a crypto market bill on September 15.

The cryptocurrency XRP fell to $1.40 on October 9, 2026, erasing price gains achieved after the 2024 U.S. election. The asset has declined 8% over the past week and has dropped 62% from its record high of $3.65 set in July 2025.

This downturn follows a period of significant growth driven by two major catalysts: the conclusion of a lawsuit by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission against Ripple in August 2025 and the launch of U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds in November 2025. While these spot funds initially attracted $1.79 billion in total inflows, their current value has decreased to $1.66 billion in line with the price retreat.

Market momentum slowed after the United States Senate voted down a crypto market bill on September 15. This legislative failure has left the regulatory landscape for digital assets unclear, contributing to the current price decline.
