William Ruto Accuses Uhuru Kenyatta of Funding Political Opposition

President William Ruto accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of financing opposition efforts to sabotage government projects as political rivals pledge a united front for 2027.

President William Ruto accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of acting as the chief financier and architect for opposition politicians and the Linda Mwananchi movement. Speaking at a church service in Taita Taveta, Ruto claimed opposition leaders are paid puppets hired to frustrate government initiatives, specifically the housing programme and the Social Health Authority. He challenged his critics to present their own development plans rather than relying on rhetoric.

Uhuru Kenyatta denied the allegations during a memorial service for former Vice-President Wamalwa Kijana in Kitale. Kenyatta stated he has no interest in elective office after serving ten years and defended the constitutional right of Kenyan citizens to choose their own leaders in the 2027 General Election.

The dispute has widened to include other political figures. Rigathi Gachagua urged Ruto to take responsibility for his administration's failures instead of targeting the retired president. Meanwhile, opposition leaders including Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua pledged to front a single candidate to challenge Ruto in the next election cycle.
