Chinese Diplomats Call for Stronger India-China Military Ties

Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong and newly appointed Defence Attache Rear Admiral You Jian called for a strengthened bilateral partnership during a reception in New Delhi marking the 99th anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The diplomatic event follows recent meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping intended to gradually normalize relations between the two nations.

Ambassador Xu Feihong urged the translation of leadership consensus into "concrete actions" and explicitly backed India's role as the BRICS Chair. He emphasized that the two countries should act as partners that help each other succeed to benefit their respective peoples and the global community.

Rear Admiral You Jian expressed a desire to enhance mutual trust through diplomatic and military channels. During his remarks, he thanked the Indian military for rescuing 12 Chinese crew members from a cargo ship explosion off the coast of Kerala last year, framing the rescue as a foundation for continued cooperation and dialogue.
