Visa Beats Q4 Estimates on Strong Travel Spending

Visa reported fourth-quarter net revenue of $12.1 billion, exceeding analyst expectations due to resilient consumer spending on travel, shopping, and dining.

Visa reported fourth-quarter results on October 27 that exceeded analyst expectations, driven by resilient consumer spending on travel, shopping, and dining. The company earned an adjusted $3.48 per share, beating the $3.44 estimate, while net revenue rose 13% to $12.1 billion. Payments volume increased 9% and processed transactions rose 10% on a constant-dollar basis.

Cross-border volumes, excluding intra-Europe, jumped 14%. This growth was aided by the FIFA World Cup in the United States and a recovery in travel within the Middle East. Chief Finance Officer Chris Suh attributed the results to strong consumer sentiment and the expansion of e-commerce, noting that the highest spend band continued to grow the fastest.

Despite the earnings beat, Visa shares fell approximately 1.4% in extended trading. This decline followed reports that client incentives rose 21% to $5.1 billion due to new deals, a factor analysts suggest may impact fiscal 2027 forecasts. For the coming fiscal year, Visa expects net revenue growth and profit per share growth both to remain in the low-double-digit to low-teens percentage range.
