UK Pledges £88 Million Aid Package for Gaza and West Bank

The Government of the United Kingdom announced an £88 million aid package on Thursday to support humanitarian relief and early recovery efforts in Gaza and the West Bank. The funding, managed by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, targets critical infrastructure including clean water, sanitation, hygiene services, and waste management.

Health services form a core part of the initiative, with funds allocated for medical consultations, mental health services, and specialized rehabilitation for children suffering from blast injuries. The package also includes broader protection support for vulnerable populations in the region.

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband stated that the UK is coordinating with partners in Jordan and Qatar to improve recovery and humanitarian access. Miliband urged the Government of Israel to end what he called "unacceptable restrictions on Gaza" to ensure that civilians have unhindered access to essential aid.
