Harish Salve Alleges Foreign Funding Drives Indian Protests
Former Solicitor General Harish Salve claims foreign interference and funding from countries like the United States are driving protests to destabilize the Indian government.
Former Solicitor General of India Harish Salve alleged that foreign funding and external interference are driving specific protests in India to destabilize the national system and hinder progress. In an interview with IANS, Salve claimed that certain foreign countries, specifically the United States, are unhappy with India and are instigating these efforts from abroad.
Salve suggested a pattern of external interference similar to recent political upheavals in Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. He specifically questioned the funding sources of protest leaders, including YouTubers Abhijeet Dipke and Saurav Das, as well as individuals based in Germany. He asserted that these activities have emerged over the last six to eight months to obstruct the Modi government while it manages economic challenges and the Strait of Hormuz crisis.
Distinguishing these movements from genuine public uprisings, such as student protests over exam leaks, Salve called on the Indian government to investigate the funding and origins of these protests to protect constitutional institutions.
