Hindustan Petroleum Struggles to Book Tankers via Strait of Hormuz
Hindustan Petroleum Corp. is facing difficulties securing tankers to transit the Strait of Hormuz due to limited freighter availability and operator cancellations.
Hindustan Petroleum Corp. is experiencing significant challenges booking tankers to transit the Strait of Hormuz to collect oil cargoes. Chairman Vikas Kaushal reported from Abu Dhabi that the company's ability to ship oil from within the Persian Gulf is currently hindered by a lack of available freighters and the tendency of vessel operators to withdraw from voyages late in the process.
While the company has seen varied success with transits through the maritime chokepoint, it has adapted by picking up supplies from locations outside the Strait of Hormuz. These logistical hurdles persist even as overall crude supply from the region increases and a higher volume of other vessels continue to make the crossing.
