Mojtaba Khamenei Orders Gulf Readiness Amid US Deadlock
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered military readiness in the Gulf while remaining deadlocked with the United States over nuclear concessions and naval blockades.
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has established a governance system based on written decrees and private consultations since succeeding his father in March. Khamenei has remained out of the public eye following injuries sustained in a February 28 strike, instead conducting high-level meetings in October with the judiciary, parliament, and national security heads to evaluate options for confrontation or negotiation with Israel and the United States.
Diplomatic efforts involving mediators from Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey have failed to break a deadlock between Tehran and Washington. While Iran has submitted a proposal regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the United States continues to demand nuclear concessions. In return, Iran seeks the release of frozen assets and the lifting of a naval blockade.
Despite these diplomatic channels, Khamenei has ordered immediate military readiness in the Gulf. He has demanded retaliation against any threats without geographical limits, following briefings from the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
