SK Hynix Labor Union Approves Revised Profit-Sharing Deal
SK Hynix reached an agreement with its labor union to pay profit-sharing bonuses as a 50-50 split between cash and company shares.
SK Hynix Inc. resolved a weeks-long dispute over profit-sharing bonuses on September 16, 2026, after its labor union approved a revised wage and collective bargaining agreement. Approximately 57% of voting union members, including production workers at the company's Icheon and Cheongju sites, supported the new terms.
The agreement increases the cash portion of profit-sharing bonuses to 50%, up from a previously proposed 40%. The remaining 50% of the bonuses will be paid in company shares. This vote ends a period of uncertainty following the rejection of an earlier proposal.
The resolution comes as the memory chipmaker experiences record earnings fueled by high demand for AI-related chips. The company reported a second-quarter operating profit of 60.54 trillion won.
