Taiwan Indicts Nvidia and Super Micro Staff for AI Exports

Taiwanese prosecutors indicted nine individuals on August 24, 2026, for illegally exporting high-end AI servers to mainland China. The defendants include a manager from Nvidia and two former employees of Super Micro Computer. The scheme involved B300 graphics processing units, which are banned for sale to China under export controls.

Prosecutors in Keelung revealed that 74 servers reached China through transit routes in Indonesia, Japan, and Hong Kong, while 56 additional servers were seized at the Taiwanese border. The operation allegedly utilized fake websites and a shell company in Japan to evade restrictions. Charges include breach of trust, document forgery, and embezzlement, with prosecutors seeking maximum five-year sentences for seven defendants. A manager at Nvidia, identified as Chang, is described as the key figure who authorized the release of the GPUs.

Nvidia stated it will work with Taiwanese authorities to resolve the allegations. Super Micro Computer asserted that it is not a target of the investigation and that its cooperation with authorities helped lead to the arrests.
