Tesla Registrations Surge in Northern Europe Amid Chinese Competition
Tesla recorded significant registration growth in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark during October, though Chinese automakers gained record market share in the region.
Tesla saw a sharp increase in new car registrations across Northern Europe in October, fueled by government incentives, rising fuel prices, and steady electric vehicle demand. The company experienced growth rates of 248% in Sweden, 131% in Norway, and 34% in Denmark.
In Norway, the company achieved its best October on record and became the top-selling car brand with a 9.8% market share. Despite this success, Chinese automakers reached a record 22.5% share of new passenger car registrations in the Norwegian market.
Tesla faced more significant challenges in Denmark, where its market share dropped to 0.73%. In that market, the company trailed several Chinese brands, including BYD, Leapmotor, Xpeng, and MG. While Tesla remains a dominant regional force, its reliance on the Model 3 and Model Y has left it vulnerable to competitors offering more diverse vehicle lineups.
