National Highways Begins M5 Motorway Resurfacing in Somerset

National Highways is executing a 38-night resurfacing project on the M5 motorway in Somerset. Phase three of the scheme begins Sunday, August 2, and involves the total closure of all three northbound lanes between Junction 24 and Junction 23, as well as the Junction 24 exit slip road, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. This specific phase is scheduled for completion by Thursday, August 6.

Concurrent works are underway at Junction 20, the Clevedon Interchange in North Somerset. Partial closures in this section started July 30, and the agency plans to close the southbound entry slip road in September for geotech works.

Southbound lanes and northbound lanes outside the nightly closure windows remain open. National Highways has established signed diversion routes to manage traffic flow during the project.
