Sean Giancola Steps Down as New York Post CEO

Sean Giancola is resigning as publisher and CEO of the New York Post Media Group after leading the publication back to profitability.

News Corp announced Tuesday that Sean Giancola is stepping down as publisher and CEO of the New York Post Media Group. Giancola will remain with the organization through early next year to assist in the transition while the parent company searches for a successor.

During his seven-year tenure as CEO and more than a decade with the company, Giancola led the publication back to profitability for the first time in decades. He expanded the brand's reach by launching regional and digital entities, including Page Six Hollywood and the California Post. The New York Post Media Group currently manages Decider, Page Six, and the flagship news site.

News Corp has not yet named an interim successor to fill the role. Robert Thomson described Giancola as a savvy steward of the publication during a period of profound media upheaval.
