Jim Cramer Warns Against Over-Concentration in AI Stocks
Jim Cramer urged investors to diversify portfolios after AI infrastructure stocks experienced significant turbulence and a record semiconductor ETF losing streak.
Jim Cramer, host of CNBC's Mad Money, warned investors on Thursday against over-concentrating their portfolios in artificial intelligence stocks. This warning follows a period of significant turbulence in the sector, highlighted by the iShares Semiconductor ETF recording eight consecutive days of declines, its longest losing streak in over a decade.
Cramer argued that the current market rotation proves the necessity of diversification. He cited the CNBC Investing Club's Charitable Trust as a practical example of this strategy. The Trust reduced its exposure to the data center trade by exiting a position in Corning on September 1 and purchasing shares of Kimberly-Clark.
While the Trust's move initially appeared premature, recent gains in stocks such as Kimberly-Clark, Waste Management, and Eli Lilly have vindicated the decision as AI infrastructure stocks declined.
