Anthropic Selects Nasdaq for Potential Record-Breaking IPO
Anthropic PBC selected Nasdaq for an initial public offering that could raise over $86.3 billion as early as October.
AI company Anthropic PBC has selected Nasdaq as the listing venue for its initial public offering, which may occur as early as October. The company, known for the Claude chatbot, aims to raise an amount equal to or exceeding the $86.3 billion raised by SpaceX in June. This move comes as Anthropic is on track to generate annualized revenue of over $65 billion, a sevenfold increase from the end of last year.
To support its growth, Anthropic was set to finalize a $15 billion revolving credit facility earlier this month. These financial expansions occur alongside a recent call by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Elon Musk to slow the pace of AI development due to escalating risks.
While Anthropic prepares for its public debut, Sam Altman stated that OpenAI will not go public this year, citing safety concerns as the primary reason for the delay.
