Nvidia Enters CPU Market With Vera Rubin Platform
Nvidia launched the Vera Rubin platform to enter the stand-alone CPU market, targeting a 200 billion dollar opportunity to power agentic AI.
Nvidia launched the Vera Rubin platform, marking the company's first entry into the stand-alone central processing unit (CPU) market. The move expands the company's hardware portfolio beyond its established graphics processing units (GPUs) used for AI training and inferencing.
The company is targeting a 200 billion dollar CPU market opportunity specifically to power agentic AI, which enables AI agents to perform tasks on behalf of humans. Despite the platform only beginning to ship in recent weeks, Nvidia expects 20 billion dollars in CPU sales this year.
This strategic expansion follows a period of significant financial growth driven by GPU demand. The company recently reported quarterly revenue of 96 billion dollars and a profit of 59 billion dollars.
