Ontario Schedules 131 Highway Closures in Peel and York

The Province of Ontario coordinated a series of extensive roadwork projects across Peel and York Regions between July 17 and July 20, 2026, resulting in 131 total highway closures over the period.

On July 17, the province implemented 79 closures. This included 48 closures in Peel Region affecting Highways 401, 403, 410, 10, 9, and the Queen Elizabeth Way, impacting Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon. York Region saw 31 closures on Highways 400, 404, 427, 7, 9, and 48, with major activity in Vaughan, Newmarket, and Aurora.

By July 20, an additional 52 closures were scheduled. Peel Region saw 31 closures on the same primary highway network, while York Region had 21 closures affecting Highways 400, 404, 427, 48, 7, and 9, with nightly lane closures in Vaughan, Newmarket, and Markham. Most projects utilized nightly or continuous lane restrictions to minimize travel disruptions for commuters.
