Three Tankers Attacked Off Coast of Oman

Three Liberia-flagged oil tankers were struck by missiles or external devices off the coast of Oman on July 14, causing multiple injuries and missing crew.

Three Liberia-flagged oil tankers were targeted in separate attacks off the coast of Oman on July 14, 2026. The UK Maritime Trade Operations first reported a strike on the Stolt Magnesium, operated by Stolt Tankers, approximately 13 nautical miles southeast of Limah. The vessel suffered an engine room explosion and fire caused by an unidentified external device; all 23 crew members were safely evacuated.

Two additional vessels were attacked near the Musandam Governorate. The Mombasa B experienced engine failure after being struck 8.5 nautical miles from the coast, resulting in injuries to six of its 21 crew members. The Al Bahyah, owned by a UAE-based company, was struck 9.6 nautical miles off the coast. While 18 crew members were evacuated from the Al Bahyah, three remain missing.

These incidents occurred during escalating military hostilities between Iran and the United States over control of the Strait of Hormuz. The Maritime Security Centre and the Royal Navy of Oman are currently monitoring the situation and coordinating response efforts as shipping operators seek alternative routes to avoid the region.
