US and Pakistan Hold Fourth Counterterrorism Dialogue in Washington

The Government of the United States and the Government of Pakistan convened the Fourth U.S.-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue on August 4, 2026, in Washington, D.C. Led by U.S. Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Gregory LoGerfo and Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Special Secretary Ambassador Nabeel Munir, the delegations focused on the current threat environment and the disruption of terrorist facilitation networks.

Both nations affirmed a joint resolve to confront organizations threatening regional stability and citizen safety. The two governments specifically pledged to target ISIS-Khorasan, al-Qa’ida, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, and the Balochistan Liberation Army and its affiliates.

The discussions emphasized enhancing bilateral and multilateral collaboration and implementing specific steps to strengthen border security. Both parties stated that the dialogue underscored shared interests in their counterterrorism partnership and a mutual determination to confront terrorism.
