UK, Germany, Netherlands and Australia Pledge New Ukraine Military Aid
Several Western nations announced air defense and drone aid packages for Ukraine following mass Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow and a NATO defense meeting in Brussels.
A coalition of Western allies announced significant military aid packages for Ukraine between June 17 and June 19, 2026, focusing on drone capabilities and air defense. The United Kingdom pledged its largest-ever package, including 150,000 Ukrainian-produced drones, 350 air defense missiles, and radars. Funded by a £752 million tranche of a loan backed by frozen Russian assets, the UK will also assume command of the Multinational Force for Ukraine Headquarters.
In The Hague, the Netherlands committed €500 million, splitting the funds between Dutch-manufactured drones and NATO's Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). Dutch officials and Ukrainian Minister Mykhailo Fedorov also signed a Letter of Intent for defense innovation. Simultaneously, Germany pledged hundreds of millions of dollars for U.S.-made weaponry, including $200 million specifically for PAC-3 missiles. Australia added 100 million AUD to the PURL to secure munitions and air defense.
These commitments coincide with a surge in Ukrainian offensive operations, including mass drone attacks on Moscow that struck an oil refinery in the Kapotnya district. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned the strikes and vowed to shift Russian strategy toward large-scale attacks on Ukrainian military capabilities. The surge in support follows Ukraine's request for $20 billion in emergency military assistance to capitalize on current battlefield advantages.
