Federal University Oye-Ekiti Denies Arrest of Vice-Chancellor
Federal University Oye-Ekiti dismissed reports that Vice-Chancellor Professor Joshua Ogunwole was arrested in Abuja over his role in the Osun State governorship election.
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti denied reports that its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, was arrested and detained by police in Abuja. The rumors suggested the alleged detention was linked to Ogunwole's role as the Independent National Electoral Commission's Returning Officer for the Osun State governorship election, where he declared Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner.
University officials clarified that Ogunwole traveled to Abuja on Monday for administrative matters unrelated to the election. The university stated that he remains free and continues to perform his duties as Vice-Chancellor.
Director of Communications and Public Affairs Sunday Saanu characterized the reports as "entirely false, baseless, and deliberately fabricated," asserting that Ogunwole had not been invited by any security agency in connection with his official duties.
