Telangana Clears 4.8 Million Voters for Final Electoral Rolls

Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy announced that 4,888,076 voters have been cleared for inclusion in the final electoral rolls of Telangana. This decision follows a Special Intensive Revision process designed to clean the state's voter lists after authorities identified over 7.3 million entries as absent, shifted, dead, or duplicates.

The revision effort involved issuing more than 9.2 million notices to address logical discrepancies and non-mapping of records. To date, election authorities have conducted nearly 6.2 million hearings, though approximately 1.3 million notices are still undergoing verification by District Electoral Officers. The cleanup identified 922,000 deceased individuals and 670,000 duplicate enrollments.

The process continues with a deadline of October 7, 2026, for filing claims and objections. The Election Commission of India is scheduled to publish the final electoral rolls on November 9, 2026.
