Senator Christopher Murphy Enters Rehab After Hemorrhagic Stroke
Senator Christopher S. Murphy will miss the post-election Senate session to undergo rehabilitation after suffering a small hemorrhagic stroke on October 31.
Senator Christopher S. Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, will not return to the Senate for the post-election session as he recovers from a small hemorrhagic stroke. Murphy suffered the stroke in the thalamus region of his brain on October 31 while attending his son's hockey game.
After receiving treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Murphy was discharged on November 6. He will now spend several weeks at a rehabilitation center to facilitate his recovery. His office has not yet specified a date for his return to the Capitol.
Dr. Jose Suarez stated that Murphy has shown tremendous progress and is expected to make a full recovery. The senator's absence comes as Democrats prepare to take control of the Senate.
