Apple and Google Launch iPhone 18 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro

Apple and Google launched their latest high-end smartphones, the iPhone 18 Pro and the Pixel 11 Pro, with both devices seeing price increases over previous generations. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and introduces the A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process. Hardware updates include a variable aperture 48-megapixel main camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, and a larger vapor chamber to improve cooling during gaming. The device runs on iOS 27.

The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099 and is powered by the Tensor G6 processor running Android 17. Its camera system features a 50-megapixel main lens and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens capable of 120x Pro Zoom through generative AI. The device also includes a display with 3,600-nit peak brightness.

While the iPhone 18 Pro focused on chip efficiency and camera versatility, the Pixel 11 Pro has faced criticism from some users. Detractors point to incremental hardware updates and the use of analog binning in the default 12-megapixel camera mode, which some claim produces lower resolution images than older Pixel models.
