ZeroGPT CTO Warns of AI Model Collapse From Data Shortage

Abdallah Chalhoub, the CTO and AI Lead at ZeroGPT, warns that the artificial intelligence industry is facing a critical shortage of original human data. He argues that as synthetic content increasingly saturates the internet, AI systems risk model collapse, a state where they lose rare capabilities and magnify existing biases by relying on model-generated data.

To prevent this decline, Chalhoub proposes that organizations maintain verified human baselines and strictly separate data generation from validation. He advocates for the collection of fresh reality, which consists of unexpected real-world data from specialized sectors such as cybersecurity and healthcare.

While Chalhoub acknowledges that technical methods like confidence-aware training can delay the onset of model collapse, he maintains that long-term sustainability depends on creating incentives for humans to continue producing high-quality original information.
